The Brickyard Point Turning
In October 2016, Hurricane Mathew dealt a devastating blow to the Low Country. Our farm lost 15 pecan trees. It was sad to see some of our oldest and most productive trees destroyed by this storm. Clean up recovery took over six laborious months.
But if there was a silver lining to this cloud, it would be that the opportunity arose to learn the art of bowl turning with the abundance of downed pecan wood available. After much trial and error, the art of producing beautiful pecan bowls has slowly evolved into a pastime and passion.
The products of this ever growing hobby are sold at local Farmer’s Markets and through word of mouth. These bowls are an excellent source of special gifts for those people or couples where a unique event exists. Weddings, birthdays, valentines days, mother’s day are perfect examples of these specific and special events.
